Advertising and funding
How Printwright is paid for, the rules ads have to follow here, and how we advertise ourselves.
How the site is funded
Printwright is free to read. At the moment it carries no advertising and has no other income from the pages you read. We may add display advertising in future to cover costs; if we do, the rules below will apply, and this page and our privacy policy will be updated first.
Rules for ads on this site
- Every ad sits in a box labelled Advertisement.
- Ads never appear between the steps of a fix, and never next to step checkboxes or our buttons.
- No pop-ups, pop-unders, auto-playing sound or ads styled as download buttons.
- Personalized ads load only if you accept cookies; otherwise any ads are non-personalized.
- Advertisers have no influence over what we write, what we recommend or where pages rank on this site.
What we don’t do
No sponsored articles, no paid placements, no affiliate links, no “recommended” driver tools or support services. If we ever change any of this, the change will be disclosed on the page it affects and here.
How we advertise Printwright
We may promote the site with search ads. Our ads describe what the site is: free, independent, do-it-yourself printer guides. They never offer phone support, remote help or repairs, never use a manufacturer’s name as if we were them, and always lead to a page with the guide the ad describes.
Report an ad
If you see an ad on Printwright that is misleading, offers “printer support” by phone, or looks like a scam, please send us a screenshot at hello@printwright.info so we can block it.
